One of the most powerful and robust features of Charts Ninja, is the ability to load chart’s data dynamically from a remote URL, such as Google Sheets, Github, etc.
Important note: We have already covered how to import data from a CSV file in Google Drive here.
Instead of manually entering the data in Charts Ninja, or importing a CSV file every time you make changes, let the dynamic URL option do the magic for you.
Since importing a CSV file, you can't manually select color for each dataset. As such, you use the color scheme. We will cover the both in this tutorial.
Note: This feature is only available in the premium version of Charts Ninja
- Go to Chart & Data panel, against Data Source, select Remote Data (from a link)
- In the Data Format field, select JSON or CSV depending on your output field.
- In the Remote URL field, paste the Github, or any remote URL from where Charts Ninja will be able to fetch and parse the data.
- If all goes well, you can see a live preview of your graph:
The ability to get data from a remote URL such as Google Sheets, Github, etc. give you a unique edge by saving precious time and effort.
