Creating a Search Engine ID is essential if you want to use the Google Search widget on your website. Follow these simple steps to get started:
Step 1: Access Google Programmable Search
- Visit the Google Programmable Search website.
- Log in with your Google account.
- Click the Add button and enter the "Create a new search engine" page.
Step 2: Name Your Search Engine
In the Name of the search engine field, enter a name to identify your search engine.

- Avoid using "Google" in the name to comply with Google's branding guidelines (see details below).
Step 3: Add your website URL

- Enter the URLs of the sites or pages you want to include in your search engine.
- Click the Add button to save each entry.
Step 3: Choose Your Search Settings
Customize the functionality of your search engine by enabling specific settings:
- Image Search: Turn this on to include images in search results.
- SafeSearch: Enable this to filter explicit content from your results.
Step 4: Complete the reCAPTCHA Verification
Check the box next to "I'm not a robot" to confirm your identity.
Step 5: Create Your Search Engine
- When you’re ready, click Create.
- You’ll be redirected to the Main Page, where you can see all the search engines you created.
How to Find Your Search Engine ID
- In the Control Panel, click on the Search Engine name in the search engines list, and in the Search Engine Basics section Your Search Engine ID will be displayed here.
- Click on the Copy icon to copy it
