When creating a widget in Common Ninja, using a perfectly fitted image is key to making your content look polished and professional. If your image looks stretched, cropped awkwardly, or out of place, here’s how to fix it.
Step-by-Step: Upload and Fit Your Image
1. Access the Media Upload Section
- Navigate to the widget you're editing.
- Click on the image placeholder under Cover Image or Media.
- Select “Upload Image” or choose from My Files, URL, or Unsplash.
You can also use the "Create With AI" option to generate a custom image directly within the editor.
2. Preview Your Uploaded Image
- After uploading, you'll see a preview of your image.
- If the image doesn't fit well (e.g. it's too zoomed in or cut off), proceed to the next step.
3. Edit the Image (Crop / Resize)
- Hover over your uploaded image and click the three dots (⋮).
- Choose “Edit Image” to open the image cropping tool.
- Adjust the cropping box to center your focus or fit the image to the widget’s dimensions.
Tip: Look for a 1:1 or square-ish crop if your widget is using a circular frame.
4. Use the Grid Overlay for Alignment
- While editing, a grid overlay appears to help you position elements like text or focal points (e.g. faces, icons) in the center.
- Once it looks good, click "Save Copy".
5. Check the Final Display
- After saving, click "Use Media" and view the widget preview again.
- If it still feels off, you can repeat the edit or try a different image size.
Recommended Image Dimensions
While the system resizes images automatically, these dimensions typically work best:
Cover Image: 1200 x 600 px (landscape)
Media / Circular: 500 x 500 px (square)
Backgrounds: 1920 x 1080 px (HD)
Bonus: Use SVGs or Transparent PNGs
If you want sharp, scalable images (especially logos or icons), consider uploading SVG files or transparent PNGs. These formats maintain quality and blend better with widget backgrounds.
🚫 Still Not Looking Right?
If you're still having trouble getting your image to fit:
-
Check that the image aspect ratio matches your widget's layout
-
Try another layout style if your image is better suited for portrait or wide formats
