If you’re seeing a "Domain Not Allowed" message instead of your widget on your website, it’s likely due to a configuration in the Project Domains setting in your Common Ninja account. Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Understanding the Project Domains Feature
The Project Domains feature allows you to specify the exact domains where your widgets will appear. If you add a domain to this setting, the widgets in that project will only work on the specified domain(s). If no domain is added, the widgets will work on any website where they’re embedded.
Steps to Fix the Issue
- Log In to Your Common Ninja Dashboard: Go to your Common Ninja account and access your Dashboard.
- Navigate to Projects: Click on My Projects from the left-hand menu to view all your projects.
- Select the Project with the Widget: Choose the project that contains the widget you’re trying to display on your website.
- Open Project Domains Settings: Inside the project, click on the three-dot menu in the upper right corner and select Project Domains (see attached screenshots for reference).
- Check the Domain Settings:
- If there are no domains listed: The widget should work on any domain by default. If you’re still seeing the error, the issue may be unrelated, and further troubleshooting might be needed.
- If there is a domain listed: The widget will only work on the specified domain. Make sure the domain matches the one where you’re embedding the widget.
- If there are no domains listed: The widget should work on any domain by default. If you’re still seeing the error, the issue may be unrelated, and further troubleshooting might be needed.
- Add or Remove Domains as Needed:
- To allow the widget on a new domain, add the domain name in the Project Domains settings and click Save Domain.
- To allow the widget on any domain, remove all listed domains. This will make the widget functional on any website where it’s embedded.
- To allow the widget on a new domain, add the domain name in the Project Domains settings and click Save Domain.
- Refresh Your Website: After updating the settings, go back to your website and refresh the page. The widget should now display correctly.
Additional Tips
- Double-check domain formatting: Ensure that the domain you enter matches the URL format of your website (e.g., `www.example.com` vs. `example.com`).
- Troubleshoot caching issues: If changes don’t appear immediately, try clearing your browser cache or checking in an incognito window.
Using the Project Domains feature properly will help you control where your widgets are displayed and avoid the "Domain Not Allowed" error. If you continue to experience issues, please reach out to our support team for assistance.
